Chief Judge
Matthew Azer was appointed to the position of director and chief judge in November 2007. Prior to coming to DPA, Matt worked in the Department of Regulatory Agencies as the program director managing several boards throughout his tenure, including the Colorado Board of Accountancy, the Office of Barbers & Cosmetology, the Office of Outfitter Registrations, the Office of Boxing, the Dental Board, the Chiropractic Board and the Nursing Home Administrator's Board.
Matt has 23-plus years of legal experience in both the public and private sector. He served as an attorney with the Office of the Attorney General from 2001 through 2004. He was in private practice from 1997 to 2001, and represented clients for the Colorado State Public Defender's Office from 1993 through 1997.
Matt graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver in 1992. He is married, has a son and a daughter, and lives in Denver.
