County Resources

In Colorado, the State has delegated to the County level the administration of public benefits. The State Department of Human Services oversees the administration of benefits dealing with cash assistance. The State Department of Health Care Policy and Financing oversees the administration of benefits involving Medicaid. These State Departments have delegated the authority to conduct evidentiary hearings to the Office of Administrative Courts.  Appeals regarding SNAP benefits are heard by the Colorado Department of Human Services.

It is the responsibility of the County Department to assist the benefit recipient (Appellant) with the filing of their appeal. This assistance may include preparing a written statement for the Appellant's signature or translating the appeal from the Appellant's native language into English. If the Appellant requires the assistance of a translator for the hearing, it is the responsibility of the County to provide this assistance.
